Steven, the project director of the study to determine the efficacy of a hospital’s Wellness Center, has a highly skilled team of professionals who are familiar with qualitative methodologies and grounded theory. At the outset they received IRB approval, including consent forms for personal interviews and observations as well as for the use of video recordings. They decided to utilize a computer program to help them throughout the process. After review and deliberation, they selected a program that allowed them to import and work with documents, PDFs, spreadsheets, audio, video, and pictures. They knew they could then spend more time on data analysis and discovery. Steven and his team were hoping to uncover subtle connections through the computer analysis that might otherwise go undetected. The computer program assisted them in their presentation to the hospital CEO. The CEO’s team was delighted to gain information “above and beyond” the facts and figures they already had in hand.
