Introduction:

For this assessment, you will use the online PowerPhys software to simulate two laboratory experiments. The simulation in the “Effect of Exercise on Cardiac Output” module investigates changes in cardiac output due to exercise. The simulation in the “Effect of Exercise on Arterial Pressure and Vascular Resistance” module investigates changes in systemic vascular resistance due to exercise and the role of cardiac output and systemic vascular resistance in determining blood pressure.

Use the following directions to complete the “Effect of Exercise on Cardiac Output” and “Effect of Exercise on Arterial Pressure and Vascular Resistance” experiments.

PowerPhys Directions:

1.  Access PowerPhys online. See the “PowerPhys” web link below.

2.  Work through the lab specified above, including the Pre-Lab Quiz, Pre-Lab Reporting, Data Collection, and Data Analysis.

3.  Complete each specified section of the laboratory report.

4.  Save your completed report as a PDF and submit it through TaskStream.
