Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus

Since diabetes is so prevalent in society in both adults and children, it is beneficial to understand how the disease occurs

and how it is treated. The research on the two types of diabetes mellitus will give you a greater understanding on this

chronic condition and how it affects your body’s ability to use energy.

This assignment is to write a research paper on the subject that you located sources for in your Unit II assignment

(Annotated Bibliography) concerning Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. Additionally, follow the research paper topic

outline that was created and submitted in Unit IV, and include any feedback corrections that were provided by your

instructor.

You should address the following content in the paper:

Compare and contrast the type 1 and type 2 diabetes mellitus.

Analyze the pathophysiology, symptoms, causes, and treatments of diabetes mellitus. Include graphs, charts and/or,

data comparing normal and disease states for blood glucose levels of type 1 and type 2 diabetes mellitus.

Where is the future research headed? Include specific technology being researched and developed.

Relate your personal input on differing beliefs or ideas held by experts that potentially impact scientific ethics, patient’s

values, and public policy on diabetes mellitus.

Your paper must be at least three to four pages in length with a separate title page and a reference page. The title and

reference page do not count toward the total page requirement. Your paper must be formatted in APA style and include four

to six sources. You should include at least the two scholarly sources from the CSU Online Library database as used in your

annotated bibliography that supported your initial research. The remaining sources may include the textbook and other

credible resources or websites that you are using in your research paper. Any information from these sources should be

cited and referenced in APA format. You only need one reference page for all sections, and include the references for all

sections on that page(s).
