Talking to the Text is a metacognitive strategy of annotating, or taking notes, on a text as you read.

Here is a funny 4-minute video that illustrates the process of Talking-to-the-Text.

This week’s metacognitive log will be completed in two parts.

Part 1. Please choose a passage from the text that proved to be especially challenging, no more than one to two pages in length. Read it aloud if it helps and as you read take notes. (If you do not have a paper copy of the text, you may take notes on a separate sheet of paper, but please indicate which section of the text you selected.) Use the following sentence frames to help you annotate the text. When you are finished submit a scanned or photographed copy of your notes.
