The literature review and statement of aims and objectives
The statement of aims and objectives should be appended to the literature review. Referencing must be according to the Harvard system.
It is expected that the literature review and statement of aims and objectives will:
1. demonstrate an in-depth understanding of the relevant literature;
2. provide a critical assessment of the significant theories, concepts and approaches;
3. show the relevance of the literature to the issue in question;
provide a clear statement of appropriate aims and objectives.

The final version of the literature review will form part of the project report.

The Literature Review must:
1) Tell the story of the literature relevant to your topic
2) Set the scene for the work described in the dissertation
3) Identify gaps in the literature/what has not been done
4) Be based on published academic literature
5) Set out a conceptual framework, in other words, using, adapting (or developing) existing theory to your research question.
